Four Valley Views - I Forage - Fading Eve

Dave Hubble

FOUR VALLEY VIEWS
Down the Valley
A lake glitters
Through the trees
My Guide.

Above the Valley
Monsoon watches Darkly
But kindly stays away.

Across the Valley
Through humid steam
Gibbons swing
And stare.

In the valley
A man
Sits with Nothing

And Gives.

I FORAGE
Perfectly balanced
On the edge of everything
Just as there's no justice
There's just us,
Together again with promises
Emptied on the grass
With the flowers
Then firing at last, yet unexplained
By the families of the world
Amidst finders and keepers
Forging songs and words from nothing
Into dreams
Complete.

FADING EVE
Coat, hat and cape
Hang upon the wall,
The drummer's on the floor
And I'm above looking down,
I'm in, even when I'm out.

Spread across the blue,
Turned around and swathed in green,
A carpet of normality
Crushed and folded,

Covering the marbled sea and the sky
With clouded regularity,
Un repeating
Unrepentant.

And books of ages
Lean on nothing for support,
Whilst the things that matter scatter
And what you think is there,
Elsewhere...
